About

The brainchild of local historian and Fountain native, Veritas Tours formally came into being a little over two years ago as a small business startup run by Chris from his home.

Since then he has added to his team, strategically appointing tech expert Piaras Casey from digital firm Auto Mate Consultancy, former Faughan born journalist Olga Cathers, who joined the team in January, and latterly Jim O'Hagan, musician and historian.

The three guides, Chris, Olga and Jim, bring together a wide range of knowledge and by melding their different cultural backgrounds together, they are able to offer a unique historic and cultural perspective of the Maiden City and the surrounding area, from the first inhabitants 9,000 years ago, to the ancient Irish landscape that shaped the land, Medieval Derry to the Plantation and right through to the modern political landscape.

Specialist areas of knowledge include tours explaining the Plantation story, The Siege of Derry, A God's Acre tour of the churches within the city walls, a children's Easter Egg trail tour (complete with treats), tours designed to appeal to school groups, A musical and the Walled City tour, and tailor-made bespoke tours for more discerning visitors. We also have a Halloween Spooktacular Tour filled with frightening facts about the City and its deadly inhabitants.
