The heritage centre exhibits ancient maps and artefacts dating back to the 1600s and Penal era, aswell as interactive screens, video content and display boards that recreate the sights, sounds and smells of daily life in a Medieval monastic community on the edge of Europe.
Housed in a beautifully restored late-Georgian school building,the centre also displays a facsimile of the Book of Kells and explores its links to Columba’s Catach, the oldest book in Ireland and a prototype for the illuminated manuscripts renowned in Christian artwork.
The St Columba Heritage Centre is open Monday - Friday, 10.30am - 3pm

This includes a free self-guided audio tour of St Columba's Church Long Tower narrated by Catholic Bishop of Derry, Donal McKeown. The recording is also available in Irish and Italian.
