About

An acclaimed new play with original songs by Kyron Bourke
Presented by Teatro Nua Productions
Followed by drinks and music in the plaza.

EVENT DETAILS
After its premiere at the Lyric Theatre Belfast in May 2022 and a successful Dublin debut at Smock Alley Theatre in November 2024, "No Citation" returns to the stage. This unique theatrical and musical event combines powerful storytelling with original jazz compositions.
"No Citation" follows Jeremy d'Wolfe McCarthy, a legendary piano man facing his final judgment. Finding himself in the derelict Dimitri's Piano Bar, McCarthy attempts to entertain with his latest songs but is haunted by ghosts from his past. As he realizes this may be his final performance, he desperately tries to set the record straight, allowing the audience to arbitrate the fate of this deeply flawed but ultimately human protagonist.

CAST & MUSICIANS
- Written by Kyron Bourke (renowned Dublin jazz figure of the 80s and 90s, described as "the broken city's minstrel")
- Directed by Rhiann Jeffrey
- Starring Kyron Bourke, Maeve Smyth (The Tourist, Dalgliesh), and Padraig Dooney aka Midnight Sax (The Commitments)
- With musicians Linley Hamilton, Stephen Davis, Hammy Hamilton, and Colman Dooney.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

"Kyron Bourke and Teatro Nua create an absolutely entrancing atmosphere... Truly spellbinding." - Emma Devlin, Reviews Hub

"Bourke, Smyth and Dooney shine in their delivery... Bourke's 'Cohenesque' rasp is full of music and emotion... The onstage artistry of this generation (of Bourkes) is obvious and accomplished." - Brian Merriman, No More Workhorse
