About
The Pickled Duck’s warm and welcoming Café on the Quay is nestled in front the River Foyle. On the menu, you’ll find delicious, locally sourced meat, fish and cheese, and mouth-watering sweet treats baked fresh on site.
Not forgetting its much-loved LegenDerry Ding (sauce); brown sauce is a big deal in this city, dolloped onto cooked breakfasts, chips, curries, and ‘Derry stew’. And there’s nowhere better to try it than The Picked Duck, where the homemade, tangy LegenDerry Ding is served with a freshly baked sausage roll, or oozing from a breakfast brioche bap with local pork sausage, bacon, black pudding and egg.
Hospitality is in the genes for owner Kiera Duddy, who spent her teens helping out at her grandparents’ well-known Derry bar, The Delacroix. There are, as the name suggests, ducks everywhere in her two Pickled Duck cafes – from yellow bath toys, to souvenirs brought back from customers’ travels. For Kiera, it’s the people that make Derry, and this café, so wonderful. “Visitors from around the world are amazed at how friendly the city is, and by the quality and the value of the food offering,” she says. “There’s nowhere like it.”
