Following the exciting announcement last month that Strabane has been shortlisted for UK Town of Culture 2028, work is advancing at pace to move to the next stage of the process as Derry City and Strabane District Council prepares a full and final bid for submission by the end of November.
Did you know that Saint Columb's Cathedral, which is situated inside our historic City Walls, is the city's most historic building. It contains artefacts from the Siege and is even home to the lock and keys of the original City Gates.
There are seven gates (entrances) to the Walled City. Four of these are original gates; Shipquay Gate, Bishop's Gate, Butcher Gate and Ferryquay Gate. The three other gates - Castle Gate, New Gate and Magazine Gate were added between 1790 and 1888.
