Finding New Voices for Your Writing Workshop

About

With Mícheál McCann

Join Mícheál McCann for a poetry workshop that explores poems where animals, ghosts and inanimate objects speak and surprise us with their insights. We will use these voices as springboards to consider what in our own lives we most wish would speak.

We will discuss poems by Frank O'Hara, Martina Evans and Fiona Benson, and through writing exercises and generative discussion, you will leave this workshop with a variety of new approaches to writing poems, as well as new drafts.

This course is for all ability levels; all that is required is enthusiasm and imagination.

Mícheál McCann is a poet from Derry City. His poems have been published in The Poetry Review, Poetry Ireland Review, Banshee, The Stinging Fly and anthologised in Queering the Green and Romance Options: Love Poems for Today. He is a poetry critic for The Irish Times and lives and works in Belfast.
