Bernard MacLaverty In Conversation

About

With Eamonn Hughes

Join celebrated Irish writer Bernard MacLaverty for an evening of conversation exploring a lifetime of storytelling and the craft behind some of the most admired fiction of recent decades. In this special event, MacLaverty will reflect on his work, the inspirations that have shaped his writing, and the themes that run through his fiction — from memory and faith to love, exile and the complexities of Northern Irish life. With characteristic warmth and insight, he will discuss the enduring power of the short story and the novel, and the role of place and history in shaping narrative.

Bernard MacLaverty is the author of several acclaimed novels and short story collections, including Cal, Grace Notes and Midwinter Break. His work has been widely recognised, with Grace Notes shortlisted for the Booker Prize and Midwinter Break longlisted for the Booker Prize. Renowned for his compassionate storytelling and finely crafted prose, MacLaverty is regarded as one of the most important voices in contemporary Irish literature.

We are delighted to welcome Bernard back to the Helicon following his sold-out visit in 2017, as part of our tenth anniversary celebrations.
