A Bite and Sup

About

Inspired by Seamus Heaney's poem 'Whatever You Say, Say Nothing' (North, 1975)

We are thrilled to introduce a brand-new experience for Summer 2025 at Seamus Heaney HomePlace — A Bite and Sup, a thoughtfully curated tour that weaves together poetry, place, and local flavours to celebrate the life and legacy of Seamus Heaney.

Your journey begins at HomePlace with a tour of our award-winning exhibition, offering profound insights into Heaney's writing, his inspirations, and his roots in rural South Derry.

Immerse yourself in the spirit of 'Heaney Country' with a visit to Heaney Brewery, nestled in the green fields of the Heaney family farm at The Wood in Bellaghy. Soak in the rural views and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at how their craft beers are made. Learn about the stories and inspirations behind the beers and enjoy guided tastings of some of the Heaney farmhouse favourites.

Following the brewery experience, venture out on the Open Ground self-guided tour. Explore the fields, lanes, and landmarks that define 'Heaney Country' and discover the landscapes that shaped his poetry.

Your day concludes with a relaxed evening meal at The Taphouse Bar and Restaurant in the heart of Bellaghy, the perfect setting to share your experience with fellow poetry enthusiasts.
