About

David Trimble: Peacemaker

In Conversation with Freya McClements

'The perfect companion piece to Walker's biography of John Hume'. Alex Kane, Irish News and Belfast Telegraph

David Trimble was one of the most influential figures in modern British and Irish history. A Nobel Laureate, he negotiated the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 that helped to secure peace in Northern Ireland.

From street protestor to statesman, his life as a public figure was controversial and he was rarely far from the headlines.

David Trimble: Peacemaker, by best-selling writer Stephen Walker, is based on over 100 interviews with Lord Trimble's family, friends and political rivals.

Stephen Walker has covered the politics of Northern Ireland for over 30 years. He reported on the Troubles and the peace process as an award-winning BBC correspondent. His previous work John Hume: The Persuader, was a best-selling biography of the former SDLP leader. Stephen's other books include Forgotten Soldiers, Hide and Seek and Ireland's Call.
