One Day Experience (Self-Guided)

About

Begin your experience at Seamus Heaney HomePlace with a warm welcome in the HomePlace Café, where you will enjoy freshly brewed tea or coffee accompanied by a homemade scone.

Then immerse yourself in our award-winning exhibition, an inspiring journey through the life, work and legacy of Seamus Heaney. Guided by Seamus Heaney's own distinctive voice, you will discover the people, places and experiences that shaped one of Ireland's greatest poets.

Before setting off, collect your picnic box from the HomePlace Café, filled with a delicious selection of treats to enjoy along the way.

Your journey continues with Open Ground, a self-guided trail connecting five locations that were deeply significant to Seamus Heaney's life and writing: Toomebridge, Magherafelt, the Moyola River, The Strand at Lough Beg, and The Turf Man. As you explore these remarkable landscapes, you will experience the sights, sounds and atmosphere that inspired his poetry and continue to define this special place.
