Illustrations and Storytelling with Paul Howard

About

Join award-winning children's book illustrator Paul Howard for a creative, hands-on workshop celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson.

In this engaging session, Paul will take you behind the scenes of children's book illustration and show you what it is like to work in the industry. You will explore clues about Plop the baby barn owl and follow step-by-step guidance through 15 simple drawing stages to create your very own illustrated book cover. By the end, you will have a finished artwork to take home - uniquely personalised by you.

Paul Howard is an award-winning author and illustrator, best known for his illustrations in Jill Tomlinson's beloved The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark and The Burpee Bears series by Joe Wicks. With over 35 years of experience, he has also worked with authors including Michael Rosen, Allan Ahlberg, Trish Cooke, and Martin Waddell. In 2021, he was selected as the Seamus Heaney Centre and Arts Council of Northern Ireland Children's Writing Fellow, where he helped thousands of children develop reading skills through visual literacy.
