About
Many American presidents have claimed ancestral links to Ulster. This unique exhibition, featuring original drawings created around 1930 by Frank McKelvey, focuses on eleven presidents who have family links back to this region.
During the early 20th century, interest in the strong ties between Ulster and America grew significantly. McKelvey's presidential portraits emerged during this period of growing curiosity, as did the establishment of the Ulster American Folk Park, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026.
Discover the stories behind the eleven presidents' ancestral journeys and how families who departed from Ulster went on to shape American history at the very highest level. Through McKelvey's portraits, you'll trace their paths from local townlands to the White House.
