The closure was announced this week following the discovery of a substantial leak at the facility, which will close its doors on Friday September 26th. But in the meantime, a fantastic medley of talent will take to the stage at the popular venue for a busy month of music, culture, and entertainment, showcasing a diverse mix of local and international talent.

Looking ahead to the packed programme, Alley Theatre Manager, Louise Boyce, said: “September is always a busy month at the Alley and we are looking forward to delivering a diverse and exciting programme before the theatre’s temporary closure. It will be a month-long celebration of cultural talent with plenty of entertainment for all ages and we hope to see a great turn out.

“The Alley Theatre is such an important community hub right at the heart of Strabane Town, and it will be much missed over the coming months. But we look forward to returning better than ever following these essential works, which will ensure the theatre can operate at its very best for our customers. For September events it all kicks off with ‘CRAIC – Celebrating 30 Years’ on Tuesday September 9tha special evening of accordion and fiddle magic, featuring top musicians Anne-Marie Devine, Patrick Bell, and Liam Lappin. Expect traditional song, dance, and a celebration of 30 years of musical excellence.

Next up are Coldplace – The World’s Leading Coldplay Tribute who take to the stage on Thursday September 11th. Experience the energy and emotion of Coldplay’s biggest hits in a stunning tribute show that brings arena-level atmosphere to Strabane.
Renowned psychic Angela Dunlop offers an evening of healing and insight on Friday September 12th, connecting audiences with loved ones beyond the veil.

Then join The Highwaymen Reincarnated on Saturday September 13th for a celebration of the legends of country music — Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson — in this powerful tribute performance.

Friday September 19th sees the welcome return of Culture Night to Strabane from 6pm. Soak up the cultural vibes and enjoy a  Flann O’Brien walking tour around Strabane followed by a special performance from Strabane Chorale in the Alley Bar at 7.30pm. Culture Night entertainment is free but booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Calling all Swifties! Celebrate the engagement in style at the Alley with Taylor Swift Tribute – Swift Sensations on Saturday September 20th, delivering an impressive selection of Taylor Swift’s biggest hits from every era — a must-see for fans of all ages.

On Monday, 22nd September, The Tame Fox: Meditations on Hugh O’Neill by Áine Mallon and Emily DeDakis explores the life of the last O’Neill chieftain. This Irish traditional suite intertwines music (composed by Áine Mallon) and narrative (written by Emily DeDakis) to reimagine the history and mythology of the Flight of the Earls.

The music line up concludes in fine style on Thursday September 25th as Claudia Buckley returns to the theatre. One of Ireland’s rising country stars, Claudia brings her powerhouse vocals and heartfelt songs to the Alley stage.

For anyone interested in local literature, the Flann O'Brien Walking Tours will be stepping out on Saturday 5th, 13th & 20th September. Immerse yourself in the literary world of Flann O’Brien with a trip through Strabane to explore this literary legend.

A number of exhibitions are currently on display at the theatre including, Lines of Inheritance: The Art of Micheál Ó Nualláin. Featuring works such as Brian at WorkEvolution, and illustrations from Cruiskeen Lawn. This exhibition celebrates the artistic legacy of Micheál Ó Nualláin and his brother, writer Flann O’Brien.

Or why not visit Strange Enlightenments, curated by Dr Marianne O'Kane Boal? This unique collection of artwork by the O’Kane family, is inspired by the writings of Brian O’Nolan/Flann O’Brien and includes painting, sculpture, and animation exploring literary themes and personal interpretations.
