Strabane was buzzing with excitement this past weekend as over 25,000 people flocked to the town centre for the much-anticipated return of Summer Jamm 2025. The event delivered a spectacular line-up of family-friendly activities, live performances, and vibrant displays, making it a true celebration of community, creativity, and summer spirit.

Organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council in conjunction with BIDS Strabane, the festival brought together the entire town, with businesses getting into the 1980s vibe — transforming premises, stalls, and even staff uniforms into vibrant throwbacks that added energy and colour to the celebration.

One of the standout moments was the thrilling Bear Run 74, which roared into town with an impressive convoy of supercars and bikes. The thunder of engines echoed through the streets, thrilling motoring enthusiasts and spectators alike.

The festivities launched with the enchanting Fizz Wizz Pop show at the Alley Theatre, setting the tone for a day filled with fun and wonder. Later, DJ Ray Gold turned Main Street into a retro dance floor, spinning 80s classics that had crowds dancing in the sunshine.

Stalls hosted by local businesses and training services lined the streets, creating a vibrant and bustling marketplace. Urban sports demonstrations, led by skater Liam Canning, amazed audiences with skillful stunts. Meanwhile, Castle Street became a hub for food lovers, serving up a tasty mix of local and international cuisine.

The newly launched Street Art Project was another major highlight, debuting a striking mural that drew crowds and social media buzz. Visitors are encouraged to snap and share their photos using #StrabaneSummerJamm and #LoveStrabane. This mural marks the beginning of a town-wide artistic initiative created in collaboration with local community and youth groups, with the next major piece set to be installed in Springhill later this summer.

Families enjoyed everything from dinosaur encounters in Abercorn Square to axe throwing, wheel-changing races, basketball shootouts, and the ever-popular demolition ball in the Action Zone.

Music and performance took centre stage throughout the day, with a rich line-up of local singers, dancers, brass bands, and a drumming circle filling the streets with rhythm and celebration. Classic funfair rides, face painting, and creative workshops ensured a packed day for visitors of all ages.

As evening fell, the celebration rolled on with Strabane’s Music Trail, featuring 22 bands performing across eight local venues celebrating Strabane’s rich musical talent.   Bars were alive with music and crowds, bringing the perfect close to a day filled with joy and community spirit.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr. Ruairí McHugh, praised the event and the town’s spirit:

“Strabane Summer Jamm 2025 was a shining example of our town at its very best. The incredible turnout and the sense of joy, pride, and togetherness on display truly captured the heart of our community. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the local groups, performers, musicians, businesses, and volunteers who brought this festival to life. Their dedication and enthusiasm made it a truly special day full of heart, colour, and pride — a celebration we can all be proud of.”
