About

On European Heritage Open Day, join us for a free tour, find out about The O’Neills, perhaps the greatest of the Irish clans, whose origins date back as far as the 10th century. Stand on top of Hill of The O’Neill, one of the most important sites in Ireland, with breathtaking panoramic views over seven of the nine counties of Ulster.

Visit our exhibition and learn more about The O’Neill, a military genius who repeatedly got the better of the Crown’s generals in Ulster. Find out about O’Neill’s bitter defeat at the Battle of Kinsale, departure for Spain, the Flight of the Earls. A pivotal event in Irish history, effectively marking the end of the Gaelic way of life in Ireland.
