About

Join us at Hill of The O'Neill & Ranfurly House on Thursday 15 October with acclaimed local historian and author Andrew Kane for a fascinating exploration of the Ulster Plantation, one of the most significant events in Irish history. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of Ulster's landscape and heritage, Andrew will examine how the Plantation impacted the region's people, settlements, and townlands, leaving a legacy that continues to shape Ulster today. Whether you have a keen interest in local history, genealogy, or the story behind the places where we live, this engaging talk offers fresh insights into the origins and lasting impact of the Plantation.

Bio: Andrew Kane works as a research consultant for the Ulster Historical Foundation, handling a wide range of, mainly genealogical, commissions and assisting in delivering their courses over the last 10 years. As well as the successful "Townland Atlas of Ulster "- now in its third print run - Andrew has published the "Town Book of Coleraine" and has regularly contributed to genealogical journals and magazines. He is a frequent speaker on local history topics and has been a contributor to several television and radio programmes at home and abroad. Andrew is a Trustee of NIFHS and takes an active role in several local history groups in the Coleraine area where his family have lived for at least 12 generations.
