About

Established by Act of Parliament in 1854, Foyle Port operates as an independent, self-financing Statutory Authority committed to efficiency, financial prudence, environmental responsibility, safety, and security. Originally based in Derry City, the port relocated to Lisahally in 1993, now featuring a deep-water terminal with 440m of quay, handling vessels up to 62,000 DWT.

Primarily a bulk port, Foyle Port facilitates the import of essential commodities such as oil, coal, animal feed, fertiliser, and plywood, supporting the North West’s agricultural and industrial sectors. Handling 2 million tonnes of cargo annually, with trade valued at £1 billion, the port plays a key role in the regional economy, supporting 20,000 farms and around 1,000 jobs.

Foyle Port has driven £100 million in inward investment, attracting major infrastructure projects, including a fertiliser plant, an oil tank farm, and a biomass power station. In addition to port operations, it offers external marine and engineering services under the "Foyle" brand.
