Richard Long is one of the world's most celebrated land artists. Over the last fifty years he has amassed an extraordinary body of work created out of nature itself, its wood, mud and stone, the elemental processes of weather, gravity and time, and the physical intervention of the artist. Long's deep affinity with landscape struck a chord with Seamus Heaney, and his work 'Mud Hand Circles' - a series of handprints arranged in eight concentric circles - inspired 'The Mud Vision', one of the best-known poems in The Haw Lantern. In this very special event Richard Long talks to Declan McGonagle, former director of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, exploring the connections between his own, Turner Prize-winning practice and Heaney's work.
