Hostel Connect is Derry’s largest Hostel and can accommodate up to 75 people in both dorms and private rooms. It is situated in the heart of this Historic Walled City, which played host to the City of Culture 2013, and only 2 minutes from all the action of the pubs, clubs, restaurants and the vibrant night life of this fantastic city. Hostel Connect is funky, chilled out and will appeal to all types of travelers.Hostel Connect is conveniently located on the Strand Road in the city centre. The Hostel is a 5 minute walk from the famous historic Derry Walls that surround the City.Hostel Connect has 10 bedrooms consisting of two large mixed dorms, one 9 and 6 bed mixed dorms, one 6 bed female dorm, one private family room (double and triple bunk), one private twin room and three private double rooms. Dorm rooms have separate security lockers and private rooms have wardrobes and bed side lockers. For the security conscious there is a safe in reception for any personal valuables. We are about a 5-10 minute walk on foot. Just turn right coming out of the bus station and walk down the Foyle Road to the lights, cross Shipquay Street and walk in front of the Guildhall (the building with the big clock, you should have the Guildhall on your right and the famous Derry Walls on your left. Keep walking across the big square and you will come to Waterloo place, keep right and follow the side walk down the Strand Road. You will eventually come to a set of lights (Great James Street), cross the street and keep walking, you will pass the Ice Wharf Bar on your right, then Tesco’s and the movie theatre. Look to your left, you will see Cafe and Hostel Connect across the street. If you’re unsure then ask someone, Derry folk are very friendly and glad to help point you in the right direction. There are plenty of taxis just outside the bus station as well! Simples
Look out for the shuttle bus that will be waiting outside of the station after every train arrives. It will take you to the bus station, which is located in the city centre on Foyle street. Just get on the bus with everyone else. Its free. The train station is located 5 minutes out of the city centre on the waterside. Once at the bus station, follow the directions above or grab a cab.
